Data Destruction

When a PC, server, laptop or other storage device comes to the end of its useful life it is generally given away or sold, however you should consider the information still left on it before doing this.

When you use your computer it stores information about what you have done and how you did it, things like web surfing, email and online banking.

Unless this historic data is correctly removed then it can be recovered and that information can be used for criminal purposes like identity theft.

There are some common misconceptions about deleted data, for example:Safely recycle

  • Emptying my recycle bin means my files are gone for ever
  • Formatting my hard drive means everything is deleted forever
  • If I reinstall my operating system (Microsoft Windows etc.) then my computer is like new and my old files are gone forever

None of these things will protect you, your files can still be recovered  !

As forensic examiners we recover files regularly and we know the dangers.

We think it’s a shame to crush, grind and shred working computers that can be recycled and used again safely, it’s also good news for the environment.

We can securely erase almost any media allowing it to be used again safely, for example:

  • ZIF IDE/CF – 40 pin
  • IDE/CF – 50 pin
  • IDE PATA – 44 pin (2.5″)
  • IDE PATA – 40 pin (3.5″)
  • SCSI IDC – 50 pin
  • SCSI SCA – 80 pin
  • SCSI SAS – 7 pin (data)
  • SCSI DB 68 – 68 pin
  • USB – 4 pin
  • USB – 6 pin
  • FireWire 400
  • FireWire 800
  • eSata
  • Memory cards, CF, SD, MicroSD, MiniSd, microdrive,Smart media, xD, MMC

Costs vary depending on the size and quantity of devices involved, however prices start at £15 + VAT per device, you recieve a printed certificate certifiying the data deletion to the required standard and delivery to your address in the UK.

If you need your computers, hard drives or media professional deleted with certification so files cannot be recovered then we can help.
